Inspection and Code Enforcement
The Fire Marshal is also responsible for city commercial plans review. Using the adopted Fire Code NFPA 1 Uniform Fire Code 2006 Edition, and the Life Safety Code 101 2006 Edition, all Site plans and Architectural Drawings are reviewed for code compliance prior to construction.
The third area of responsibility is inspection of new and existing buildings. During new construction, reviews are made on sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, fire alarms, emergency lighting, exit lights, fire extinguishers, occupant loads, exits etc. Existing Buildings receive Annual Inspections.
Finally, the fire prevention division is responsible for investigating fires to determine the origin and cause of the fire to include arson.
